Armed Robbery Procedures
Does your team know what to do during an Armed Robbery?
Course Objectives
The risk of armed robbery increases when deterrent measures are inadequate or non-existent; when staff are not visible to people outside the workplace; when an offender can enter the business premises undetected; when staff at the point of sale cannot see other people in the workplace during opening and closing times; when a person is the sole staff member within the premises and during hours of darkness.
Research by the National Police Research Unit clearly shows that whilst the number of armed robbery offences committed against financial institutions in Australia has steadily decreased in the past decade, the number robberies at what can be described as soft targets is on the increase.
Outcomes of the course
The Armed Robbery Awareness Programme cannot guarantee to remove the risks associated with armed robbery however the strategies suggested have general deterrence and crime prevention value and are designed to minimise the probability and likelihood of this serious offence occurring.
Employers have a legal duty of care to reduce the risks and provide staff with training in what to do should an incident of this serious crime occur.
This workshop covers the following key points, as training outcomes:
- Identifying the key security and criminal risk activities.
- Identifying methods of prevention and reducing the incidence of armed robbery.
- Identifying and practicing the behaviours for staff during an armed robbery event.
- Identifying the post robbery procedures.
- Identifying note taking and reporting procedures.
Available for small groups POA.
