First Aid for Remote or Isolated Site
This course includes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response and emergency life support to casualties in a remote or isolated situation.
If work, community involvement or personal interests venture into the great outdoors, this is the first aid course for you!
In remote situations, medical assistance may be delayed or difficult to obtain.
This course teaches participants to plan for going remote, prepares them for providing care for casualties over prolonged periods and to communicate with emergency services for planning assistance in remote locations.

Designed for
Anyone who:
- is required to provide a first aid response in remote situations, including community and workplace settings
- would like to have the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in remote situations
Participants must be 14 years or older. Participants under 14 years must provide written permission to attend the course from their parent or guardian.
Delivery
The HLTAID013 Provide first aid in remote or isolated sites program requires participants to attend a 1-2 day Practical Skill Workshop and 4-6 hours of pre-course self-study. This unit incorporates the contents of HLTAID011 Provide first aid, HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Delivery and duration adjustments may be made for participants who hold a current HLTAID011 Provide first aid certificate.

Nationally Accredited Certification on Completion
On successful completion of this highly practical course, the participant will receive a statement of attainment for HLTAID013 Provide first aid in remote or isolated site. People trained in CPR and advanced resuscitation should refresh their skills at least annually (every 12 months) in accordance with recommendations of the Australian Resuscitation Council Guideline 10.1 and industry standards.
Assessment
Tactical offers a 'hands on approach' with progressive assessment throughout the course, including multiple choice questionnaires, demonstration of CPR using manikins and response to simulated scenarios.
Please be aware that due to Nationally Registered Training assessment requirements, participants must be capable of performing CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor. Contact us if you need to discuss any individual needs.

HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid– provides the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders. This program applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.
HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy- provides the skills and knowledge required to use specialised resuscitation equipment including AED, bag-valve-mask, oropharyngeal airway adjunct, an oxygen resuscitation system with oxygen cylinder and a selection of selection of oxygen equipment.
