Hospital Code Black Training

Code Black Response Team

CodeB 500x334

When staff are concerned about their own safety and the safety of others due to abusive or assaultive behavior, they are to initiate a Code Black.

Busy emergency departments are highly stressful environments for staff, patients and visitors. Combative or abusive behavior presents an incredibly challenging role for nurses, doctors and security, who need to possess a great deal of skill and sound decision making ability in tense situations.

Patients can wait for long periods to make way for more serious injuries and conditions. For clients or their loved ones this mounting frustration can often escalate into violent episodes whereby front-line staff, such as nurses, are in the firing line. This dynamic workplace violence prevention program equips participants with essential skills and procedures adopted by response teams in the event of abusive or assaultive behavior or violent incident occurring within a hospital environment.

Customised to suit your organisation

The Hospital Code Black (Workplace Violence Prevention) training is delivered to small groups at your work site. The program can be fully customised to deal with specific issues that may be unique to a particular area.
It includes the use of restraints and non-violent intervention techniques. Unfortunately violence towards health-care staff and other professionals is an increasing part of daily hospital life and is an occupational hazard that jeopardises the health and safety of anyone in close proximity to an incident.

Combative or abusive behavior can be displayed by anyone: patients, patients’ family members, staff, staff family members, or acquaintances of employees and patients.
